Anithié. Un groove dont ils ont le secret. Le Karignan a toute son importance ( il faudra peut-être penser à mettre son nom)… Africa is The source
Recently discovered my Mandinka/Malinke roots and the similarities between this genre of music and the blues of the Deep South is so crazy!! From the timing to the rhythm, to the nasally quality of the voice it’s amazing how much we were able to retain despite our centuries long separation. I hope I will have the opportunity to visit the Wassulu region in Mali and Guinea and see this live🔥🔥
Hey Damion, thanks for the appreciation. Indeed, the Wassolou is one of the deepest roots of the music and West Africa, and most likely of 80% of the contemporary music through the sub-tendencies of the Blues (Jazz, Funk, Reggae, Rock'n'roll...). This is for me the main purpose to promote and produce video lessons related to this style.
Sure. My comment was referring more to the connections between the diaspora and the continent and I hope more work can be done to bridge the gap between the two. Thanks for the info tho.
@@WassolonGroove how could a random guy from the states learn this???

Quelle Originalité , voilà La vrai musique de Wassolon, je vous souhaite le progrès dans la bonne santé
It sounds so much like early country and blues. Proof that these genres are African in origin, not European.
Was never European, Courtry music started from Blues and I guess blues derived from Wassoulou music.. I can hear the close similarities

Cooll Amara adan ça me plaît vraiment .
This is great. I just started playing N'goni and have watched this several times for inspiration. Any idea what the lyrics mean?
Hey bro, yes I can help you with the meaning. It's very social topic as most Wassolou songs are. It's a form of parable. This means that when the day of the party is coming (Tabaski or New Year for example), you want to run to (be with) your friends. Those who don't have friends or family will be really mental (melancholic, desperate). That's the basic idea with some variations around. I'm producing a 90min workshop about this rhythm at the moment where I give more details, so if you like to learn about N'goni and invest some into your studies, I might have a lot of good material to help, you can contact me for the details at alexwielemans@hotmail.comn

@Alex Wielemans Thank you for this. Whatbis the name of the percussionist? He was immaculate. The whole trio are absolutely amazing. Do they have a group name? Love it
Sorry but I really can't remember the name of the percussionist. The instrument is call carignan and it give the swing of the rhythm. This was a recording made in the context of my studies but I'm actually producing an album with those musicians and more. The name of the project is Wassolou Convention ( Wassolou Benkain in Wassolonke language) That should be done by September 2020 in theory
Alex Wielemans I cant wait man. I listen to these videos a lot. Any chance you could notify me on further progress? I’d like to buy whatever music these guys produce
@@suncat5160 Hey Sun Cat, there's an album in preparation, I'll try to finish the prod in a few months, I'll definitely upload some sample when it's done. In case u like to study, I've a bunch of workshops done with the video of these guys playing the rhythm at the end
Bien
Anyone able to provide a translation for these lyrics?
Go(o)d!! :-)
Dope.
I really love african music too, especially N'goni, it's so similar to my music in Indonesia, in Karo Tribe (North Sumatra) we called our instrument as "Kulcapi", hey I think our anchestor is same, love music, have shamans, and we have the mask dance too, peace from Indonesia.
